Seeing As We Are

Dusti creates work that explores how lived experience shapes who we are and how we move through the world. Whether exploring the landscapes that shaped her or the complexities of human emotion, she is interested in the lasting imprint of experience and the ways in which it continues to influence how we see ourselves and the world around us.

Working across acrylic, encaustic, and sculptural forms, her work moves between landscape, abstraction, and more personal explorations of memory, identity, resilience, and change. While often rooted in personal narratives, her work looks for the places where individual experience becomes something shared, allowing viewers to recognize something of their own stories within it.

A Path of Her Own

Dusti’s relationship with art began early. In her teens, she studied oil painting under a Master Artist, an experience that shaped not only the way she learned, but also her belief in the value of mentorship. That belief eventually led her to Mastrius, where she has continued to learn from accomplished artists including David Langevin, Isabelle Gaborit, Ardith Goodwin, and Mark Thompson.

Today, mentorship has become part of Dusti’s own practice as she works with other artists to help them dig deeper into their ideas, understand what drives their work, and find their own artistic voice. She continues to learn alongside them, believing that growth as an artist never really ends.
